History
The Rainier Group was founded in 1988 to fill a need for the owners of well established, private businesses. Specifically, we helped clients successfully address ownership changes that were to take place during their lifetime.
Early on, we recognized a critical need to integrate business with personal objectives. We built a modeling platform that captured and projected our clients’ personal financial cash flow and linked it to their business projections. While far more sophisticated today, we still use this niche capability to help clients make better critical decisions with greater confidence.
Expansion
In 1995, we started our geographic expansion by opening our Portland office. Offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles followed after the turn of the century. In 1995 we also began expanding our service offerings by formally providing professional investment advisory services. Our clients needed an organization with an intimate understanding of their goals and financial situation. The rapid growth validated that integrated investment advice is a natural extension of our consulting services.
In 1997, we entered into our first formal partnership with a New York Stock Exchange bank, Old Kent Bank. Thanks to the success of this partnership, we established formal legal agreements with Hibernia Bank, Compass Bank, Zions Bank, First Tennessee Bank and Capital One Bank. We have helped our partners develop a consulting capability that reflects our experience and expertise.
Present Day
Today, while the majority of our clients are in the West, we have clients and strategic relationships in over 20 states throughout the United States. The Rainier Group has grown to become a recognized leader in areas of Business Transition, Operational Succession and Wealth Management for successful business owners and other affluent individuals.
